"There's a Tim Leatherman?!" It's a revelation that continues to spark surprise and delight even today, more than 40 years after Leatherman Tool Group whirled to life.

And it's one that sets the stage for the video embedded below. 

CBS News recently stopped by to learn more about how the company was founded and how Leatherman multi-tools are made today. Correspondent Conor Knighton sat down with our founder to learn more about his journey from budget backpacker to multi-tool inventor.
