In 2007, Leatherman engineers set out to meet a new challenge: How to pack the most functionality possible into a 5 oz package. The answer: the Skeletool. By combining a skeletonized design with only the most essential tools they made the ultimate minimal multi-tool.

Before any Leatherman multi-tool design is put into production, it must run a gauntlet of stress tests. Some engineers call the room housing these machines the Testing Lab. Tim Leatherman himself has dubbed it something more colorful: the Torture Chamber.
