Shocking Skeletool

My first purchase from the Leatherman product line was a Charge XTI, which shortly became an extension of my body. Each morning would consist of a rundown of my daily necessities: wallet, cell phone, keys and my Leatherman. Unfortunately somebody else saw the extreme benefit of my Charge XTI and stole it. This was a very sad day for me, but it turned out to have a silver lining. When I discovered my Charge was missing I went to www.leatherman.com to search for a replacement. To my surprise a new product was on the verge of being released. The Skeletool CX. In my eyes this was the ultimate in Leatherman versatility. Compact, stylish and beyond anything the competitors had to offer. Fortunately my family knew how much I missed my Charge XTI and how "blown away" I was with the Skeletool CX. Partial serrated blade, wire cutter within the pliers, interchangeable bits, bottle opener, belt clip, and the "icing on the cake", CARBON FIBER!!! I had to wait three months for it to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. My family even had my name etched on the side, an option available from the factory.

I was recently working construction, with my Skeletool in my pocket, when I came across an extension cord that was pinned by a stack of 4x8 plywood. I had seen the cord for about a week and really hadn't given it much attention. We had plenty of other power supplies to use, considering it would take a fork lift to free the cord. After a week on the job site we where finishing up and loading our tools. My supervisor noticed the cord and informed me that it was one of ours. At first I just kept walking (I wasn't interested in attempting to free the cord) but my supervisor told me to cut both ends and splice it back together. At this point I should have checked to see if it was plugged in, but since it was quitting time I pulled out my trusty Skeletool CX, grabbed a hold tightly to the cord and went for one quick cut. POP, SNAP, SPARKS!!! The cord was still plugged in! Now how I didn't get assaulted by the electricity is a mystery to me. Maybe the carbon fiber?

The Skeletool sliced completely through the cord, but unfortunately the serrated portion of my Skeletool was damaged. The heat of the electricity left unsightly wounds on each side of the blade. One scar being about a quarter inch in length and almost went completely through the serrated portion. I was deeply saddened and even more, shall we say, irritated with my supervisor.

The reason for this story is to share the supremacy of the Leatherman Skeletool CX. A day does not go by that I do not use my Skeletool in some fashion.

P.S. In today’s world where individuality is sometimes tough to come by, I have not met one other person that carries a Skeletool CX. It makes me feel like I'm a cut above the rest and feel sorry for those who have not discovered the.....PERFECTION OF LEATHERMAN.

Sincerely,
A Life Long Customer

The second Charge in the original series was just as high-end as the first. With a cutting hook instead of scissors, it was hard to choose between the two.

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
