Flint and Steel
I have a Core, recently received second-hand, for a case of beer off a friend who had upgraded to the Surge. Coming into Flint and Steel (the name of a rocky point in local waters) on a port tack - not 20 meters off the rocks I moved to come about, but the jib had an overriding turn on the winch, preventing us from tacking back. AYF rules require a sheathed deck knife for exactly this sort of reason, but, unsurprisingly, we were not so equipped.
With as much cool and calm attitude as I could muster, I grabbed my new favourite multitool and slashed the halyard allowing us to come about and save the boat from serious damage. We didn't manage to win the race (which would have made the story all the more impressive), but at least we still have a yacht to race with next week.

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
