Tool Tales

January 2008

Sad Day

About 10 years ago, just before Christmas, I was looking in a woodworking shop in town for things to buy my dad. I ended up buying him some new chisels and on the way out of the shop I noticed the Leatherman Super Tool. The salesman said this is one of best tools you will ever buy. So I bought my first Leatherman there and then.

From that day on that Leatherman NEVER left my side; wedding, funerals, holidays it was always with me. I can honestly say there was hardly ever a day that I didn’t use the Leatherman. People at work were amazed every time I used the Leatherman to make quick repairs on the trucks. The Tool was fantastic for its size.

Now you are probably wondering why I titled the post a Sad Day. Well, as I said earlier, I bought the Leatherman around 10 years ago and four days ago the popper on the original leather pouch gave up the ghost, but I wouldn’t leave the tool at home because it was so useful bit of kit. About halfway through the day I found I needed the Leatherman for a small job, but to my great sadness I had lost it and I had no idea where I had lost it. Later that day I found another problem I needed to sort out and instinctively I reached down to my trusty friend, only to be reminded that I had lost my friend. 10 years of unfailing dependability gone in a moment. So there and then I decided it was time to get a new friend from Leatherman. I shopped online and have now got the Leatherman Charge TTi. I still miss that old original Super Tool, but things move on and things change.

Keep up the good works guys.

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
