Skeletool Does it for Me

I bought my Skeletool after seeing it one of my outdoor magazines and on the cover of another for being the pick of the year.

I carry a pocket knife with me at all times, but wanted something that had more to it. Once I went to look at it at the local store and felt its weight I was almost sold. Those of us who keep a sharp knife understand the rest. I opened the blade (fresh out the package) and with one pass shaved the hair off my forearm, looked at the salesperson and said "I'll take it".

Since then, I can't think of much I have not done with it. I have field dressed Deer, Turkey, Pheasant and Dove. I have tightened tree stand bolts, worked on my truck, and helped a woman with her stranded car (and got it running). I use it at work loosening screws, bolts, cutting wire, and stripping fiber optic sheathing. I have used it to clear shooting lanes for hunting, cut small firewood (don't ask) used it it the garden to prune and cut vegetables, even used as an improvised eating utensil (kids, don't try it).

Ever gotten import beers for around the campfire? OH NO, NOW WHAT? I'm the hero with the bottle opener... now give it back. (By the way, was it planned when you made it, that the carabiner clip holds the cap when it opens the bottle? good idea people!) I helped another woman who had stripped the headlight turn knob on her car and could not get home from the store... Skeletool does it again, just turn it off when you get home or I will have to come over later to replace the battery ... with my Skeletool. (Had to do that once with my wife’s Jeep ... with my Skeletool).

I have taken the pots off the fire with it, started fires with it, and stirred my camp coffee with it. Then while showing my nephew how to clean birds I set it down and left it... in the woods... a mile in. I went back the next day, almost an hour away, walked the mile in, and it was gone. I WISH I could be the guy who finds a Leatherman in the woods. I went back to carrying my pocketknife that I used to carry, and it wasn’t the same... I dealt with it for a while, and went back this past Friday and bought another.

You guys have a loyal customer here, I am not Survivor man, but I am getting close. I will have more stories soon I'm sure. Did I mention that I have put in six stitches with the pliers and, when healed, cut them out with the blade?

Thank you for the Skeletool , if anyone who is thinking about buying one is still putting it off... just go get one... then after a week try to go a day without it... or leave it a mile in the woods for me to find this time.

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
