The Skeleton and the Skeletool
I was visiting family in West Texas for the 2008 Christmas holiday and used nearly all the tools of my new Skeletool CX in the first few days. After happily receiving it as a gift, I discovered that the tool nicely clips to the inside of my blue jeans mini-pocket. The tool’s size, weight, and overall design make it easy to retrieve from the jean pocket, so the CX doesn’t need a sheath. The individual tools have a plethora of applications, too. Before the day ended, I had opened a bottle of beer, sliced off a piece of grandma’s banana nut bread, and even tightened some loose screws on a few door knobs around the house. This multi-tool was getting a workout that day when my nephew and I decided to work off the banana bread and hike the nearby mountains. The following morning, as we crossed a dry river wash on the desert trail, I pointed out things that can come rushing down the hillsides during a serious thunderstorm. And there it was, the skeletal remains of a coyote. I could tell my nephew was a little nervous, but when I took out the Skeletool’s pliers and pulled a tooth from the dog’s jaw, my nephew’s pale Virginia skin turned even whiter! So now my favorite tool had another purpose --- souvenir extraction!
