Lost In Mexico

Hi! My story is not very good, but it is the truth, and that is what we all need!

My name is Ray and about 10 years ago I purchased a Leatherman Wave. Being a repair person, I have used it every day and am very careful with it. But, even when it was very harshly used, it would always stand up to the punishment!

About 3 years ago I snapped the main blade off. I was cutting some heavy items in a shower and I put extreme sideways pressure on it. I broke it! My fault, but I still carried on using it. I spent about 1 year in Mexico and in all that time it was invaluable. At one stage I was working crawling under a building and I lost the knife in the sand and could not find it. I was so upset. I went the next day to a store in Mexico and purchased a similar knife made somewhere else. It was terrible; too bulky and much too heavy! Within a few days I had to return it . . . no good! I went into another store and this time purchased a knife that looked like Leatherman; it was cheap, about $20.00 made abroad. I took it back to my place and the next day tried to use it, and it came unscrewed and fell apart almost immediately. I was dumbfounded. The next day I gave it away to a guy in the street. I was so upset that I went back to the place where I had lost my knife under the building and desperately searched for it! Suddenly, there it was like an old friend.

After I returned to the US, I was speaking to someone who told me that there was a lifetime guarantee on my knife! I am going to send my broken unit back to Leatherman, but after my experience of being without a top quality knife I do not care if I have to pay. I know it is worth it! Thank you Leatherman!

Excellent best regards,

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
