Always Be Prepared

I received a PST II for my birthday when I was 12 and have used it every day for the past 8 years. With carrying it on my belt that entire time at such a young age, I often got questions from people as to why I would possibly need that. Usually, that same day I was always able to use it for something and point it out to them, making them realize how useful it actually is. Apart from the traditional uses, I have used it as a hammer, drill (as a last resort with no means available to get a proper drill, one is actually able to twist the small screwdriver to make a hole and go up along the entire length of it since it tapers out the closer to the handle you go. If that is not a big enough hole, inserting the philips screwdriver into the existing hole and repeating gets an even larger hole. I have had to do that many a time, actually), and an infinite number of in the moment uses.

It gets way more abuse than any tool should, and the small screwdriver finally broke off after being used to poke and pry things for years. This happened two days ago, and already I am on the Leatherman site seeing to replace the amazing tool. I am an Eagle Scout and a firm follower of the "always be prepared" motto. The PST II (along with a plastic card with duct tape wrapped around it in my back pocket) has set me way ahead of what any situation could throw me, and I'm sure the WAVE will follow suit.

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
