Tool Tales

August 2009

Wave at It’s Best in the Himalayas

Needless to say the Leatherman Wave is one of my favourite SOS multi-tools in my daily travel.

This story is when I was riding a hired Royal Enfield motorcycle to Hemis Monastery from Leh in July 2009. My friend and I had a narrow escape on the high mountains when the rear brake liner jammed at 30 miles an hour....no sign of human around and no tools in the hired bike. The Wave came to the rescue. We managed to open the rear wheel and its brake liners for repairs without any extra tool needed. I cannot be happier than this. At high altitudes even an average job becomes a challenge. This incident was in the Himalayas at an approximate altitude of 12000 feet. Good job...sometimes I feel I should use some other multi-tool for a change...but still cannot put away my Wave away. Die hard tool.

Tell Us Your Tale

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
