Making an IT Guys Job Easier
In 2009 I started work for a company that does computer repairs, but we also manage internet and phone connections for 2000 apartments over a few acres, so we are always walking with tool kits in backpacks.
My parents got me a Leatherman Core for my 18th birthday and got it nicely engraved for me after dad felt how heavy my backpack was. I thought, "What am I going to do with this thing. We have toolkits anyway!"
The next morning, I got up and thought, "What the heck, why not." So I put it on my belt and off I went.
That day, and man what a day it was, it got so much use. Fitting doors back on, opening computers, repairing air conditioners, stripping wire to connect, putting new equipment in, cutting extra off cable ties. One little fold away tool has saved me a whole backpack of tools.
Now, I only have to carry a few select tools that aren’t on the Core. If only Leatherman made a tool with a Krone tool on it, I would be backpackless!
Not only does my Core get use at work, I've used it at BBQ's in the park. Someone forgot the scissors to open meat; out comes the Leatherman!
I also take comfort in knowing that if we get called in to work at some absurd hour because of a power failure, my Core will be able to tackle anything I throw at it and save me precious time looking for the right screwdriver. The one on the Core seems to fit every screw I have to undo!
For a present that I thought, "What am I gonna do with this?", I don't leave home without it. I think it is by far the best present I have ever received!

OK, you voyeur, you. Enough of reading other people's stories. It's time you told your own tale of gripping heroism or even just neat DIY'ism. We know there's a Shakespeare in you somewhere. Don't make us use the Steens to find it.
